It&#8217;s basically a project to redevelop and improve the southeast part of Burlington, including Skyway Arena, Lakeside Plaza and Burloak Waterfront Park. Designed to revitalize the area, bring more business and visitors, including allow residents to enjoy the premium waterfront area more freely, this initiative is very exciting!<\/p>\n<p>This past November 2015, they had first of many public meetings at Robert Bateman High School, with over 300 people attending this time and sharing their opinions about city&#8217;s new initiative in redeveloping Burlington waterfront.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a map of the proposed land for redevelopment.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/d\/embed?mid=1oWkQ1tw1ZKse-a9DNwcfq3zv9rw\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Skyway Arena <\/strong>&#8211; initiative to redevelop the current Skyway park and arena in order to create more space, upgrade the structure, and allow for easier accessibility, as well as, tie it into the Lakeside Village plaza.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lakeside Village<\/strong> &#8211; this\u00a0is an important community shopping plaza for the Elizabeth Gardens and south East Burlington neighborhoods. Remodelling the plaza, adding appropriate commercial and community services, vital for the area is on top of the list, and\u00a0connecting the plaza with the waterfront park further south.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Burloak Waterfront Park<\/strong> &#8211; the city plans to turn this into a beautiful park that spans along the waterfront as seen in the image below. The project phase I has already started in Nov 2016 and goes till May 2017. It includes four meter wide accessible waterfront pathway, shade pavilion, small performance area with seating, pedestrian guardrail, and invasive tree and shrub species removal. The Skyway park and arena, with the Lakeside Village plaza and that with Burloak waterfront park.
